![]() ![]() Whenever possible, procedural maps are used to avoid these mapping issues. Mapping types however depend on the shape of your own models, so that might need some tweaking on your side. Some Material Libraries (custom or default) are missing from the 3ds Max Material/Map Browser after opening a scene, period of inactivity or after transferring machines, hard drives, etc. ![]() The browser is our own, based on Qt, and its fairly fast. ![]() Note that some materials also rely on mapping modifiers, so make sure you check out the object the material is applied to. The material library literally is just that - a collection of premade materials that you can import in 3ds Max and edit (or not) if needed as regular V-Ray materials basically the same approach as the Corona library. You get 56 different materials, all in one big 3Ds Max file so you can access them quickly. Here's a tutorial on basic Vray material creation. For example for most plastics, simply change the diffuse color to your needs, or change the metal look by altering diffuse and reflection color etc. It's the perfect base for your product design material library! All materials are easy to tweak to control the final appearance. This collection contains a wide variety of commonly used materials in the design field. ![]() The render is absolutely different to the original from Substance Painter. But unfortunately, using pre-defined "presets" the rendering doesn't look at all similar to the preview i could see using VrayMtl Shader in Substance Painter: I then adjusted the tile repetition of the pattern and texture resolution. I let Substance plugin synchronized everything for me using a Substance2 node. In order to have a quick idea of the material on substance, I just created a quick UV sphere. In this way I took a look to Substance source and found some outstanding materials such as this interesting "Irregular Triangle Curtain Wall Tile" available here : I'd like first to point out that I'm fairly new to 3D painting and texturing process. I request your help because I'm struggling to setup a material in Vray5 coming from Substance Source library. ![]()
